A new grant aimed at helping apprentices was announced last month by South Surrey-Cloverdale-White Rock MP Russ Hiebert.
Applications for the Apprenticeship Completion Grant opened July 2.
The $2,000 award aims to help Canadians enter the trades and ensure the country has the skilled and mobile workforce it needs to meet the demands of a changing labour market, Hiebert said.
More than 100 Kwantlen Polytechnic University grads will be eligible to apply, he noted.
It is estimated that 20,000 apprentices will benefit annually from the grant program.
