Walmart employees aid students, athletes

Junior hockey and young students are the latest benefactors of South Surrey Walmart employees' fundraising efforts.
Under Walmart Canada's Local Matching Grant Program, employees identify causes in their communities and work to raise money for them. The home office then matches the amount raised, to a set amount.
Recently, an in-store raffle lead to a $820.50 donation to the Surrey Eagles, to support the team with out-of-town game expenses.
Another $1,220 will help Rosemary Heights Elementary build a new playground, after parents and students helped raise funds for Walmart's Taste for Learning Program.
