A new executive director has been appointed for Tourism White Rock, the organization charged with promoting the city as a year-round destination.

Betina Albornoz, a long-time resident of the Lower Mainland – including White Rock – was named to the post on Oct. 5.

Albornoz, who holds an MBA in marketing and leadership from Royal Roads University, has an extensive background in senior executive management and strategic marketing and development in both private and public sectors.

Most recently, she has been running her own consulting firm, Argenta Business Solutions.

Founded in August of 2008, Tourism White Rock is jointly funded by the City of White Rock, the White Rock Business Improvement Association and the White Rock and South Surrey Chamber of Commerce, with a mission to promote the city as a tourism destination, particularly for day visitors from other Lower Mainland communities and northwest Washington.
