Some of the top BMXers from around North America, including Olympic rider Scott Erwood, will be ripping up the local track beginning tonight.

Langley BMX is hosting the Canadian ABA (American Bicycle Association) Borderline nationals right through until Sunday.

The divisions vary from novice to pro, with riders as young as five and as old as 60 competing.

The 21-year-old Erwood, who is from Langley, represented Canada at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing when BMX made its Olympic debut.

The event is being hosted by the Langley BMX Association at its Brookswood track, which is located right beside the George Preston Recreation Centre.

The racing begins tonight (Friday) at 6 p.m., starts at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and then 9 a.m. on Sunday.

The event is free for spectators.

The race is the third in the series as the riders gear up towards the Canadian grand national championships in Chilliwack in October.
