The Coquitlam Reds struck for four runs in the top of the seventh inning, erasing a 2-1 deficit to shock the Langley Blaze 5-2 on Thursday night at McLeod Park.
The Blaze, the top team in the B.C. Premier Baseball League with a 29-7 record, had won 18 of their past 19 games.
Coquitlam sit third from the bottom of the league standings with a 12-29 mark.
The Reds struck first, scoring in the third inning, but in the bottom half, Kyle Turner hit a run-scoring single which allowed Tyler Barlow to cross the plate. The hit was one of three singles Turner had in the game.
Two batters later, Preston Carlile scored Turner on a deep sacrifice fly.
Blaze pitcher Rory Young cruised through the first six innings, allowing just four hits and the one run.
But in the top of the seventh inning, mental and physical errors plagued the Blaze's younger players, as the Reds rallied for four runs.
Young finished with six strikeouts in the game.
Joe Germaine went 2-for-3, while Russ Kennedy and Nic Mahovlich had a hit apiece.
The Blaze have a busy weekend ahead of them as they host a pair of doubleheaders.
On Saturday (July 11), Langley welcomes the Abbotsford Cardinals to McLeod Park, while the Vancouver Cannons come to town on Sunday.
Both doubleheaders begin at noon with 2:30 p.m. the start time for game two.
