The Langley Chaos Pee Wee C girls fastball team went undefeated to win the gold medal at the Zone 3 regional championships last weekend in Fleetwood.
The Chaos won all four of its qualifying round robin games by the mercy rule, beating Cloverdale 15-0, White Rock/South Surrey 18-0, Port Coquitlam 18-2 and Coquitlam 16-1.
Finishing first after the round robin, they then went on to the finals where they beat Abbotsford 12-5 and Fleetwood 10-3 to advance to the championship game against Ridge Meadows who had also remained unbeaten in the tournament.
The two teams fought a fierce defensive battle with Langley holding a 2-1 lead until the sixthth inning when they scored two additional runs and then held Ridge Meadows off in the 7th inning to win 4-1.
The win caps a fantastic year for Chaos having won the Langley Fastball Association year-end championship the week before and the Guildford Championship earlier in June.
Overall the team compiled a 38 and 9 win-loss record throughout the season’s league and tournament play thanks to players Rachel Openshaw, Rachelle Folk, Stephanie Digness, Taylor Glass, Rachel Stephenson, Ashley Fountaine, Kelsey Dennis, Lauren Peterson, Morgan Rossi, Erica Williams, Madison Tait, Carly Watson and Delanie Locke. They are coached by Mike Glass, Ken Digness, Ray Folk and Craig Watson.
