Thanks to all who care

Editor: I would like to take this opportunity to extend our gratitude to all of the volunteers and facilitators of the community programs and dinners that have made a difference to those living in hard times in Langley.
Over the three years that the outreach program has been in Langley, there have been countless hours logged by people trying to do what they could for those less fortunate. Meals, sandwiches, socks, sweaters, blankets, shoes, muffins, warm drinks, cookies, and toques too numerous to even begin to count have helped someone through another night huddled under a bridge or tarp, or a day in which they weren’t welcome anywhere that they stopped to rest.
At some point in November, Langley will enter a new era as it pertains to helping those in the community who have very little. This new era will see the discontinuation of some community programs and services and the redirection of energies into new concerns and projects. To the multitude of people behind the programs that are closing as well as to those people involved with the programs that are going to continue — thank you.
We have had the pleasure of meeting so many of the people behind the scenes, as well as those who have handed out the hot chocolate, food and whatever else was available. While a blanket, bowl of chili and a hot chocolate might not solve a problem, they do help someone survive and in this world of bottom lines there is no dollar value for that. We all choose to help in our own way and for our own reasons. Thank you for helping in your way.
