Father's lawsuit prompts reader response

Editor: Do parents know where their 13-year-old kids are, asks Brian Elidoros. He apparently didn’t know where his daughters were when they decided to attend the outdoor party which their father has been complaining about to Brookswood’s principal.

While it has become in vogue to expect the school system to do society’s parenting, I must point out that drinking in public is a policing issue, not a school issue. Perhaps if Mr. Elidoros had focused his attention in the appropriate direction he may have had success in preventing this situation.

Instead of suing the taxpayers of the Township, his neighbours in other words, he might consider using this situation as a teaching opportunity for his own daughters. Condemning other parents for not knowing where their children are does not change the fact that he also didn’t know where his children were when they decided to see if someone they knew was at the outdoor party outside the rec centre that night.
