B.C. is the most beautiful place on Earth

Editor: On Thursday night, my husband and I launched our boat out of Fort Langley for one last time this season. As we cruised along the river, we were once again captivated by all of our surroundings.

In a single day we saw an eagle soaring above the treetops, a deer grazing along the river banks, families camping at Derby Reach, and several people fishing in the river. We floated underneath the Golden Ears Bridge and were amazed at its structure and stature.

We came to a stop in the open water and basked in the sun, while at the same time we enjoyed a view of Mount Baker, standing firm above the treeline. It was at this time that I recalled our recent trips to the Okanagan, and I remembered all of the beautiful lakes we boated on and swam in up there,

I started to think about the water park in Walnut Grove that I can take my kids to, and watch them run through the clean water and laugh and play without a care in the world. I became excited about a trip we have planned to Whistler this winter, and my husband anticipated a fishing trip he has planned in Port Alberni.

And as I was breathing the clean air and taking in the wonderful sights, I’m able to see every day, I was humbled by creation and regretful for all of the complaining I do about taxes and health care and gas prices because, after all, I get to live in B.C. It truly is the most beautiful place on Earth.
