'Window shopping' late at night
Editor: I am writing in response to an event that occurred outside my home in Brookswood on Saturday, July 18.
Sometime between 3 and 5 a.m., some shoppers decided that they would like to do some “literal” window shopping in the driveway.
They chose to break into my vehicle by smashing the window and taking the furniture that was in boxes in the trunk.
They left behind three other bookcases, I assume because they were too heavy.
Ironically during that same time frame my son woke up after taking ill. Unfortunately, I didn’t hear what was happening outside my house.
Now my daughter will not be able to have the furniture that she has looked forward to having in her bedroom this summer.
Perhaps your son or daughter has recently come home with a new bookcase or end table or maybe a dresser.
Maybe you could ask them how they earned the money to purchase a new piece of furniture.
Or better yet, what they were doing at 3 a.m. on someone else’s property doing damage, so a family could be inconvenienced by paying for a replacement window as well as saving up to purchase furniture for a second time.
Take the time to know what your sons or daughters are doing, and teach them to not only respect themselves but others.
It was a huge disappointment for my son to see the damaged vehicle and my daughter to see her furniture taken away.
I know what my kids are doing at 3 a.m. — respecting their parents and themselves by staying out of trouble.
