Wettlaufer shouldn't be allowed to ask for licence back
Editor: Re: Hit-and-run driver who killed Langley child wants his licence back (The Times, July 10).
I am appalled that a driver who has had his licence suspended for 10 years after killing an innocent girl and injuring two others is even allowed to ask to have his licence returned early.
This driver was already driving without a licence and now thinks that he should be able to drive again? It is no wonder that criminals just laugh at the justice system in Canada, as it clearly looks after the rights of the criminals before the rights of law-abiding citizens and victims of crime.
The sentence that Paul Wettlaufer was given at the time was not strong enough. I hope that the judge throws his request out without going through a lengthy proceeding.
This action is once again putting the family through reliving the nightmare, and it is at a time when they should be able to put this behind them.
