The Willoughby Methodist (later United) Church, Tom and Dorothy Campbell residence and the David Jones residence have been added to the Township’s Community Heritage Registry.

Township council voted unanimously to approve the Heritage Advisory Committee recommendations.

All three buildings are located on the west side of 208 Street near 83 Avenue, near the Willoughby Community Hall. Plans for the area call for development in which the heritage buildings would be preserved and likely given new uses.

Very few heritage buildings have been identified in Willoughby, which is under intensive development and will eventually be home to 60,000 people, according to Township plans.

Council also voted unanimously to approve a $5,000 grant for repair and restoration of the Coronation Block in Fort Langley, home to the Fort Gallery. The grant comes from a fund set aside by the Township for heritage incentive projects. Staff said there is $60,000 available in the fund.
