Speeders, red light runners and those who don’t wear a seatbelt have put more than $1 million back into Langley coffers.
The province is giving the Township and City $1,021,758 back from traffic tickets.
The breakdown is $739,766 to the Township and $281,992 to the City. The money goes to safety programs and crime prevention like paying for more police officers, said the province.
“This funding allows municipal governments to make choices that match their own unique needs,” says Langley MLA Mary Polak. “By supporting things like crime prevention programs and increased policing, we’re working with local governments to ensure public safety remains a priority even in tough economic times.”
