Parents' group wants some answers

Langley District Parents Advisory Council says it is “very concerned” about the school district’s deficit and the lack of controls that contributed to it.
“Our main concern is the impact of the coming cuts on the classroom,” said Lionel Patterson, the acting president of DPAC.
He said that DPAC sent a letter to the board of education in June, requesting that it direct Deloitte to meet with DPAC and answer parents’ questions without reservation.
“We are still awaiting a response to that request,” he said.
DPAC has also struck a sub-committee to review district finances and to be in regular communication with the school district about financial matters.
“School district finances remain a top priority for DPAC and we intend to continue to fulfill our roles of giving parents a voice and communicating any developments at the provincial and the district levels,” Patterson said.
