Langley’s Citizen Crime Watch Patrol helped locate two stolen vehicles in Langley this weekend.

The vehicles had been stolen out of Langley a week earlier.

Crime Watch volunteers take laptop computers out on patrol that contain a database of stolen vehicles and licence plates in British Columbia.

Volunteers query licenc

e plates and when they locate a stolen vehicle they call for an officer to come.

Citizen’s patrol is known as the “eyes and ears” of the Langley RCMP detachment, said police spokesperson Cpl. Holly Marks.

Volunteers are trained to observe and report suspicious activity in the community using radio communication and observation equipment.

Patrols take place both during the day and at night.

Langley RCMP are always looking for more dedicated volunteers.

If you are interested in volunteering with Crime Watch, call the co-ordinator at Langley detachment at 604-532-3200.
