The re-paving of 208 Street between 48 and 44 Avenues is scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 17.

For many months, this stretch of road has prompted many complaints from residents and motorists because of its uneven surface, potholes, and the lack of lane markings.

Because of soil conditions, it may be necessary for areas to be excavated before the paving can begin, said Alan Ngo, Langley City’s infrastructure engineer.

Ngo said that the excavation work will extend the length of the repaving project which is now expected to be completed by the second week of September.

The work schedule may also be disrupted by the weather, he said, but the project is not expected to affect utilities or services.

Ngo said that while traffic will be re-directed around the work site, sidewalks will not be impacted.

Pete Jokisch, the City’s operations manager, said that 208 Street from 48 Avenue to Fraser Highway will also be paved this year.
