Two Walnut Grove residents took Block Watch to a new level when they chased down a pair of thieves, catching one of them after numerous neighbourhood vehicles had been broken into on July 26.

Around 4:30 a.m., a man heard a noise outside his residence in the 9000 block of 216A Street.

He watched two suspects going through vehicles parked in the driveways and on the street.

He decided to chase them and with the assistance of a neighbour, detained one of them until police arrived.

The teen had with him several electronic items believed to have been taken from the vehicles.

Now police are hoping to return the stolen items to their rightful owners.

Residents in the area of 216 and 217 Streets and 90 Avenue to 94 Avenue whose vehicles have been broken into should contact Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.

Charges of theft and possession of stolen property have been recommended to Crown Counsel against the 16-year-old Langley youth.
