There is a proposal to develop the former Langley Prairie school site on Fraser Highway. But details are being kept under wraps for the time being.
Langley City’s Chief Administrative Officer Francis Cheung said at least one proposal for the development of the former Langley Prairie/Apex site was received before the July 31 deadline, but declined to say how many had been submitted or provide any details at this early stage.
“We did receive proposal for the site,” said Cheung. “Staff will review and brief council.”
City council is taking a break in August and will next meet on Monday, Sept. 14.
Because development of the site is “a sensitive issue with the neighbouring residents,” Cheung said staff will likely present their recommendation to the mayor and council at that meeting.
Council then has the option of accepting a proposal, declining any or all proposals or seeking further information before making a decision, Cheung said.
