A member of the pioneering Sendall family has passed away.
Richard Frank (Dick) Sendall was born in Langley Prairie (now Langley City) in 1928. He passed away on July 15 at the age of 80.
His father Ernie Sendall was a partner in Rump and Sendall, a large chick hatchery business located for many years in what is now Langley City. He also served as the first elected the early mayor of Langley City, after it broke away from the Township in 1955.
Dick Sendall and his family were avid supporters of Sendall Gardens, named after the family, and were very interested in how the City has changed and developed over the years.
Dick Sendall, like his father, was in the poultry business.
Recently, he suffered from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease and received care from the Adult Day Care centre and Marrwood Centre.
He is survived by his wife Diana, daughter Irene, sons George and Don, two step-grandchildren and several other relatives.
No funeral services are planned, but donations in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C. are welcomed by the family.
