Vehicles being broken into continues to be the number one problem in Langley, with Murrayville and the City being two popular spots right now, said Supt. Janice Armstrong.

Thieves are taking everything from licence plates and validation tags to stereos and insurance documents. In the City, Glover Road/Eastleigh Crescent and the, 5500 block of 208 Street have seen a lot of break-ins.

Criminals are also still targeting the “point of sales” terminals in restaurants. They are smashing glass doors or removing the glass from doors in order to gain access and then stealing the debit terminals for the personal and financial information they contain. Walnut Grove businesses have been hit particularly hard again, said Armstrong. “Our property crime section is focusing on this issue,” she said.

On a positive note, reports of mail theft are way down, with no new complaints for the past two weeks.
