Latin Flavours spice up Concert Café Classico

Concerts Café Classico presents Latin Flavours, featuring Francois Houle, clarinet and Jane Hayes, piano

The concert will take place on Nov. 6, with a 10 a.m. coffee and commentary and an 11 a.m. concert.

Latin Flavours brings Francois Houle (clarinet) and Jane Hayes (piano) to the LCMS stage. This dynamic duo comprised of Vancouver’s most versatile and established musicians will present a fiery programme of South and Latin American music.

Astor Piazzolla, composer of the famous tango nuevo style will be presented as well as the popular and well known Scaramouche Suite by Darius Milhaud. Other composers included are the Argentinian Carlos Guastavino and Cuban jazz musician Paquito d’Rivera.

Clarinetist François Houle has established himself as one of today’s most inventive musicians, in all of the diverse musical spheres he embraces: classical, jazz, new music, improvised music, and world music.

Pianist Jane Hayes’ repertoire spans Baroque through contemporary, solo and chamber music. In addition to her full-time position as director of keyboard studies at Kwantlen University, Hayes finds time to appear frequently as both soloist and chamber musician.
