Prepare to go Up, up and away this Friday night, as Langley’s first outdoor family movie night, presented by Prospera Credit Union in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley, hits the big screen outside the new Langley Events Centre.
The summer night’s entertainment under the stars will feature the Disney-Pixar animated feature Up, on a three-storey high inflatable screen.
Up tells the story of an elderly man named Carl (voiced by Ed Asner) who, faced with being moved to a nursing home, ties a massive bundle of helium balloons to his house instead, and takes off on a wild adventure to South America. Unfortunately, Carl is unaware that he has a young stowaway — a scout named Russell — on his front porch during lift-off.
Audiences are welcome to come early to stake out their spot, and bring a picnic to enjoy while they wait for the movie to start, which will happen shortly after sunset, around 9 p.m.
This is a free event, but Township firefighters will be on site, accepting donations to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The costs of putting on the event are covered entirely by its sponsors, so every dollar donated will go straight to Big Brothers Big Sisters, to support its programs, which include traditional one-on-one matches as well as in-school mentoring and teen mentoring programs.
Parking will be available at the Langley Events Centre.
