Some of Canada's best young female hockey players have taken to the ice at the South Surrey arena.
And Surrey's own Lauren Kimura is there, playing on Team BC, one of eight regional teams from across the country at the 2009 National Women's Under-18 Hockey Championships.
Joining Kimura on Team BC is another local, netminder Paige Clark of Langley.
Team BC plays Manitoba at tonight's game (Friday), 8 p.m. at the South Surrey arena. It's the final day of preliminary rounds.
The City of Surrey-hosted event runs from Nov. 4-8.
Both Kimura and Clark are members of the Vancouver Fusion of the B.C. Female Midget AAA league.
The top two teams from each group will play each other in semifinals, with the winners advancing to the title match.
The gold-medal game is slated for Sunday, Nov. 8 at 3:30 p.m.
