Almost 10 years after he left, Ed Hensley is back at Fraser Downs.
The veteran harness-race driver, with more than 4,300 wins to his credit, has accepted an invitation to return to the Cloverdale track after stings on the U.S. circuit in California, Chicago, Indianapolis, New York and Pennsylvania. He will be on the track tonight (Friday), driving in 10 of the 12 races.
“I’m here to have some fun for the winter, visit relatives and renew some old acquaintances with friends,” said Hensley. “It’s quite a thrill to be back.”
In 793 starts in Pennsylvania and New York this season, Hensley chalked up 90 wins, 84 runnerup finishes and was third 89 times.
“It’s a real positive thing to have Ed driving here again,” said Fraser Downs general manager Chuck Keeling, who has kept in contact with Hensley over the years. “He was a popular and effective driver in his previous years at Fraser Downs and I think he adds value to our racing program.”
Both the Friday and Saturday cards this weekend start at 7:30 p.m.
