Flu vaccine: Hang in there

The long-awaited HINI influenza vaccine has been approved and will available to the public by early November, the provincial health officer says.
The vaccine, already being distributed in the U.S., could be offered here as soon as next week, but it's more likely to be rolled out after Hallowe'en, Dr. Perry Kendall said.
Seasonal influenza programs will be suspended while the HINI vaccine is being administered, but will be offered again in the new year.
Meanwhile, the number of deaths attributed to the H1N1 virus climbed to nine cases in B.C., five in the Fraser Health region, including a 26-year-old mother from Mission.
A total of 111 severe cases requiring hospitalization have been confirmed since the virus began spreading last spring.
