SkyTrain delays

Nighttime SkyTrain users who ride to or from downtown are going to face two months of significant delays while crews work to stop water leaking into an underground tunnel.

While work is underway most weeknights from Oct. 14 to Dec. 11, riders will have to switch trains at Stadium station, adding 15 to 20 minutes to their travel time.

Safety blitz bonanza

A four-day safety blitz in Surrey and Langley saw 81 commercial vehicles ticketed for violations ranging from poorly-secured loads to bald tires.

Inspectors ordered 23 unsafe commercial vehicles off the road.

The blitz involved members of the Surrey and Langley RCMP detachments, plus commercial vehicle inspectors.

Flu shots start

Fraser Health workers are ready to roll up sleeves and give flu shots, but the vaccine will be for the seasonal flu and not the H1N1 flu that's spreading rapidly.

Seasonal flu clinics at local heath units and other locations began Thursday for those aged 65 and older and long-term care facility residents.

The H1N1 vaccine will become available next month.
