Teen vampire fans stake out Surrey's Twilight set

A sleepy local street has become a magnet for the teen vampire-crazed fans of the Twilight movie series.
The "Twi-hards" are coming, from the U.S. and beyond, to see Bella's House, a two-storey movie set on 28 Ave., hoping to catch a glimpse of the film's biggest stars, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.
But their hopes were dashed when the site's security crews closed the road well away from the action while the Vancouver-based production was filming here last Friday and Saturday.
The security measures meant students and staff at nearby East Kensington Elementary School were forced to find an alternate route for the Terry Fox Run.
Last weekend, reports surfaced that Twilight fans were swarming various film locations around the Lower Mainland, including Bella's House, located just minutes from downtown Cloverdale.
But it's not true police had to be called in keep armies of spectators at bay at the Surrey set, one of the filming locations used for the second and third Twilight films – which have been shot back-to-back under a veil of secrecy. B.C.'s Film Commission doesn't even list the multimillion dollar production in its current film list.
Nevertheless, fans across North America are well acquainted with various locations used for the movies, which are based on Stephenie Meyer's popular novels about a high school girl named Bella Swan (Stewart) who falls for a mysterious vampire named Edward (Pattinson).
For months, fans have been making pilgrimages to various Twilight locations in the Vancouver area, sharing their discoveries on-line on internet message boards and swapping tips on social networking sites like Twitter.
One Washington State teen even posted her Twilight travels on YouTube. (Bella's House was a highlight.)

A website called On Location Vacations is encouraging fans to share tips and rumours with the on-line community, launching an open discussion that began Aug. 21 – the day filming on the third movie, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse began.
Comments on fan and movie news websites suggest fans are desperate for news and photos of the hush-hush production.
So far, no signs of the film's romantic leads on the Surrey set. But the pair, who are linked offscreen under the celebrity gossip moniker, "Robsten", were spotted in Port Moody last weekend where they were captured by paparazzi.
Fans are also speculating about where the cast members are staying during the shoot.
"I heard half the cast has been moved to a different downtown hotel in just the last few days, that they are no longer at the Sheraton Wall Centre," posted "Erica" Sept. 10.
"Yeah, I heard that too... apparently too many paps and stalkerazzi lurking around," replied Team Taycob.
The second, highly-anticipated movie in the series, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, premiers Nov. 20. It was shot in Vancouver in March.
