Riders flock to bike park

Shhh. Don't tell the mayor.
Word has already leaked out about Cloverdale's new bike park.
The multi-discipline park, which builds on existing BMX trails at Cloverdale Athletic Park, was completed about a month ago.
It's already a huge hit with bike riders and even skateboarders of all ages and skill levels.
"Oh yeah," said hardtail rider and project volunteer Adam Brouwer, 15. "A lot of kids already use it."
So the City of Surrey probably won't have to rely solely on Dianne Watts' undeniable star-power to help spread the news about the popular new facility, which holds its grand opening Saturday Sept. 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a live DJ, BMX freestyle shows and family entertainment.
But her opening remarks will certainly help shine the spotlight on the new park, which combines urban elements like concrete jumps and ramps with off-road areas and a pump track, wall ride and other skill-building challenges for new, intermediate and advanced riders.
