Put pressure on our MP

October 24 was the International Day of Climate Action. People around the world held rallies to encourage their governments to enact policies that will bring global carbon dioxide levels back down to 350 ppm from the current levels that are nearing 390 ppm. According to leading scientists, it was when we passed 350 ppm, that we began seeing a dramatic speedup in ice caps melting in the North and South Poles. Already, countries such as the Solomon Islands are being threatened as sea levels are beginning to rise.
The timing is essential, as world leaders prepare to meet in Copenhagen in December to commit to follow up to the Kyoto accord. I plan on jumping on the Skytrain to join other green minded individuals at a giant rally in Vancouver at Science World, but for those who can't make it, there is still time to pressure government.
Please call our local MP's office (604-534-5955), and urge him to make commitment to taking a much stronger stance. I especially encourage Conservatives to call in, as the government needs to know that its not just Green Party supporters who want to see action.
