During the years between 1960 and 1986 part of my supervisory duties at BC Hydro was the collection of overdue electricity and gas bills on lower Vancouver Island.
Nearly every working day I had to deal with troubled families; it was a difficult job but enlightened me to the need for a caring society to provide the necessary means too guide those in a terrible dilemma to a positive future.
The priority now for the B.C. provincial government is to get additional revenue through increased liquor sales and gambling. This policy does not bode well for the future harmony of family and community life in our once proud province.
