Anti-cyclists' attitude angers

All this anti-cyclist talk makes me angry. I applaud the letter from Barry Hunt in The Aldergrove Star, "Not all cyclists 'bad apples'".
Although I have only just recently bought my bike to ride around with my kids, we are very considerate of pedestrians, always wear our helmets and are very cautious of cars. I thought the point was to encourage people to ride bikes instead of driving cars? To help, you know, save the planet, reduce greenhouse gas... So, yes, let's licence and insure them! That would really encourage more people to take up biking. Not to mention all the kids that get to school by bikes. Let's start taxing them too.
I have been almost hit by cars on foot and on bike and this is while I'm following the law. I'm sorry, but there are far too many dangerous drivers out there to start going on at the cyclists.
Get off the cell phones and slow down. Yes, cyclists need to be cautious of pedestrians but I don't allow my kids to cycle on the busier roads for their own safety. There are too many drivers out there that are in too much of a hurry to care about anyone but themselves.
