Church boosters no threat

I was very surprised to see a letter in your paper on July 16 regarding a local soccer camp being hosted by a church in our neighborhood.

My family has been going to this camp for six years and it is amazing. Two of my children are currently in the camp this week.

Anybody who has lived in Aldergrove for any amount of time would know how much this church has done for our community. The pastor is also actively involved in a local sports organization here. His wife and family are amazing leaders who set a wonderful example in this community.

The soccer camp is fun and affordable for all families. As a parent of a large family it is very much appreciated. All they are trying to do is give the children in this community a fun week of soccer.

I find it very disconcerting that someone would try to knock a person down who is only trying to do good with no harm intended. Handing out flyers in a common area of a housing complex is not illegal. The child was right to bring the flyer to his parent, which I am sure he was told to do. I do not believe he was singled out and was probably with a group of children or adults at the time.

I do not see what the problem is? Stranger danger, I do not think so, I am sure living in a complex there are all sorts of people walking through there on a regular basis. Probably not a good place for an unsupervised five-year-old child to play if you don't want them talking to anyone.

All the children at this camp are having a blast, thanksvery much to the many volunteers.
