‘Idiot’ calls in bomb threats
A bomb threat forced the evacuation and closure of the Langley City library on Saturday.
A bomb sniffing dog was called in and the facility was cleared of any danger before patrons were allowed back in just in time for the Langley authors celebration at 1 p.m.
The bomb threat turned out to be a hoax, one that a person called in to more than 30 facilities around the Lower Mainland, said police.
In fact, the man accused of calling 911 over the weekend, is still at it. Police can’t track him because he has a deactivated cellphone.
“We have to take the necessary precautions. We can’t assume it’s some idiot, which it was. But it’s very frustrating and I don’t think he realizes the implications of his mischief,” said City Mayor Peter Fassbender who attended the author celebration at the library.
In fact, the man calling 911 tied up the line and used up major resources that could have been directed towards real emergencies, said police.
