The new head of the Langley RCMP detachment will be revealed Friday afternoon.

There are five officers on the short list for the job of head of the detachment, and Langley’s police chief.

Of the five, two are inspectors at the Langley detachment — Insp. Richard Konarski and Insp. Amrik Virk. Konarski has been acting OIC of the detachment since Supt. Janice Armstrong left in September, to take up a new position with E Division, the B.C. RCMP headquarters.

Both Langley mayors were involved in the interview process and decision making for hiring.

“We are not going to fill her shoes. We will have to get a new set of shoes,” said City Mayor Peter Fassbender about Armstrong’s popularity here.
