Man now facing 13 firearm charges

The Aldergrove teen charged in a shooting at a house party on Springfield Drive a few weeks ago has had additional charges laid against him and will be held in custody until at least his next court date on Nov. 18.

Caylen Pelletier, 19, now faces 13 firearm charges including discharging a firearm with intent to wound or disfigure. He is accused of shooting a 22-year-old Langley man who was shot at least twice, in the arm and torso. The shooting victim was brought to hospital but released that same night with only minor injuries.

Pelletier and an 18-year-old were arrested shortly after the shooting. The 18-year-old was interviewed and released without charges, said police. Both men who were arrested and the victim of the shooting are known to each other and to police.

Pelletier’s father Leonard who made headlines in September, 2007 after he was shot at while driving his Hummer, He was trying to drop his son off at school at the time.

He said he was driving his son to school at D.W. Poppy Secondary in his black Hummer when he noticed two men drive up beside him with a gun.

He sped off, trying to get away. The Hummer clipped a car, sending his big SUV into a ditch near Peterson Road Elementary. The shooter followed and fired several shots at the Hummer.

Leonard was taken to hospital but only suffered scratches from the shooting. His son wasn’t hurt. At the time, police called it gang-related, something Pelletier denied.

He told the media the shooting was in retaliation for his involvement with beating up a teen who got into a fight with one of his sons.

One of Pelletier’s sons who was driving near the scene after it happened had to be Tasered by police for ‘interactions’ he had with an officer. He was held in custody for a day and released, said police at the time.

The shooter in that case was never caught.
