Aldergrove 'grow-op' house to be seized

Langley RCMP's drug section has applied to have an Aldergrove home seized on the forfeiture of crime law.

The home has been assessed at $760,000, said police.

The case is before the courts but it would be one of the first in Langley to be seized under the fairly new legislation. When a house is used as a marijuana grow op, it is a property of crime and can be taken away from the owner.

There are no provisions in existing law and policy for the proceeds of the sale to go to local municipalities as of yet.
