Yuca will rock the Bog, July 27.
Get ready to rock down at ‘the bog’
Published: July 23, 2008 2:00 PMFormer Fox Seeds winners “Yuca” headline the 17th annual International Bog Days celebration, July 27 at Planet Ice in North Delta, 10388 Nordel Court.
Yuca’s high-energy live performances, addictive melodies and first-class musicianship make them the perfect headlining band to encourage younger generations to get actively involved with environmental issues. Yuca is based in Aldergrove.
Along with Yuca, Tiller’s Folly will be captivating the audience with Celtic acoustic rock that is sure to get everybody dancing.
International Bog Days is hosted annually by the Burns Bog Conservation Society. This event offers the ingredients that attract families and bring communities together — kids’ adventure tents, solar powered “Rock Band,” tours of the Delta Nature Reserve and environmentally conscious organizations such as Cascades and Power Smart.
According to the UNEP (United Nations Environment Program), bogs store more carbon than any other type of ecosystem-twice as much as forests-while covering only three per cent of the world’s surface. International Bog Day celebrates bogs and educates the public on their importance in the fight against greenhouse emissions.
The 17th annual International Bog Days festival takes place July 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Additional tours of the Delta Nature Reserve will be offered on July 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
