Aldergrove residents have one more way to get more active, starting this fall.
The Township of Langley has expanded its services in the Aldergrove community as part of its Go Active initiative, which encourages residents to become 20 per cent more active by 2010.
A new fitness room is being opened in late November at the Aldergrove Kinsmen Community Centre, at 26770 - 29 Avenue, where an existing room has been renovated to include a treadmill, elliptical trainer, recumbent bike, multi-use cable weight-training station, free weights, and stretching area.
The AKC Fitness Room will be open Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. In January, the AKC Fitness Room schedule will include “Youth Only” times to encourage younger residents in the community to Go Active.
“We encourage people to make use of this public facility, where no initiation or membership fees are required,” said Liana Thompson, community recreation programmer with the Township of Langley.
“As an incentive to try the new room and get more physically fit, we are offering one free trial per person for the month of December, and those who try it for the first time will get a goodie bag filled with a pedometer, healthy recipes, and membership pass information.”
Drop-in admission is $2.85 for youth, $4.45 for adults, and $3.40 for seniors. Pass options are available to provide even greater value.
