Updated: October 28, 2009 12:10 PM
Goodbye drab, hello to building-sized art.
The Arts Council of Langley announce that several Aldergrove youth have answered the call to take back their streets, throught artistic licence.
Under the professional tutorage of master ceramicist, muralist and artist Santo Mignosa, several Aldergrove youth have been privileged to become part of this building sized project.
The first building to be transformed is the one that houses Kitchen Corner on Aldergrove's main street.
Sponsors of the project include Aldergrove Community School, which has expressed full support for the initiative, and the Kitchen Corner owners are also assisting with the costs of this amazing project.
Langley Arts Council executive director Alison Brotherton will be documenting the progress through photo and video.
Brotherton says, "The Arts Council is excited to see the Aldergrove community, through a joint venture between its youth, the residents and the business community take back a proud community centre, using art to redefine its public spaces in this new way."
The Langley Arts Council is developing a new recognition program to encourage other local residents, companies and organizations which may wish to partner in this and other public art projects. Those interested shoud contact Brotherton at 604-534-0781.
