Mehndi a Big Hit
Muriel Arnason Library in Willowbrook hosted a henna program on August 13 that was enjoyed by 35 women of all ages. Renuka Goodapaty, a professional ‘Mehndi’ artist explained briefly what is henna, history of henna (Mehndi), how to get henna, how to make the henna paste, how to apply it, the cultural aspect of henna, and answered many questions. Then the real henna painting work started and this enjoyable aspect went on for two hours. Sarwan Singh Randhawa, community librarian, said that the program will be repeated during Diwali celebrations at the library on October 24 from 12 to 3 p.m.
