Fraser Valley Ex-Service Women will celebrate their 20th year Friday, Sept. 14, 11 a.m. at Langley Legion.
Started Sept 12, 1989, the original members in attendance were Merle Ford, Lee Lawrence, Eileen Green, Bea Craig, Betty Atkinson, Barbara Leonard, Beth Rebbeck, Rose Hibbs and Lily Trim.
Ads were placed in local papers and more Ex-Service Women joined and their membership grew from nine to 65.
Their membership has now dropped to 25. Thirty-four have passed away, others moved, and some are unable to get out at this stage of their lives. They have had reunions every year.
The women entertain in nursing homes in Burnaby, Surrey, Langley and Abbotsford. Audiences all enjoyed their singing and other entertainment.
