"Rotary Heli Golf" first prize winner Norma Fentie of Aldergrove received a cheque for $1,000 from Gary Brackenbury, president of the Rotary Club of Langley.

Norma’s golfball #2702 landed closest to flag at the 16th annual Heli Golf performed during the July 1 Canada Day celebration at McLeod Park.

A total of 19 cash and other donated prizes were won and just under $15,000 was raised to support local charities. The Langley Mustangs Track and Field Club received $6,000, the Walnut Grove Senior Secondary School Dry Grad $6,000 and the remainder will go to local Rotary supported groups.

Rotary thank those who donated prizes, ticket printing and the helicopter service by Michel Lamarche, who operates out of Langley Airport.

Some 3,500 balls were dropped from the helicopter with a flag as the target located in the centre of the sports field in front of the grandstand. Ball distance from the flag decided the winners. Thanks goes to those who purchase ball tickets — another success story for our community of Langley, "The Place To Be".
