John Morris' Vernon rink is 2-0 at the 2017 Home Hardware Road to the Roar Pre-Trials in Summerside

John Morris’ Vernon rink is now 2-0 at the 2017 Home Hardware Road to the Roar Pre-Trials in Summerside, PEI.

Morris, who has Jim Cotter of Vernon throwing skip rocks, counted three in the second end in a 7-2 victory over Mark Bice of Sarnia, Ont. in fifth-draw play Tuesday.

Tyrell Griffith of Kelowna and Catlin Schneider of Saskatchewan run the front end for the Morris foursome which takes on Colton Flasch of Saskatoon Wednesday at noon (Atlantic). Flasch is 0-2 in Pool A after falling 6-4 to Glenn Howard of Etobicoke, Ont. in the fifth draw.

Morris and Howard share the lead in the seven-team division. Morris battles Adam Casey of Regina Thursday afternoon and goes up against Jason Gunnlaugson of Winnipeg and Howard in Friday draws.

There are 14 men’s rinks in the event with the top-two advancing to the Canadian Curling Trials, Dec. 2-10 in Ottawa.
