Swimmers hit the jackpot

The Langley Olympians took full advantage of swimming in their home pool, smashing a handful of meet records and winning more than 30 medals.
The local club was hosting the third annual short course invitational meet over the weekend at the Walnut Grove Aquatic Centre.
And when the two days of intense swimming were done, the club had set five new meet records and won 28 gold medals.
Leading the way was Tricia Kiss, who won seven gold medals (200m IM, 100m backstroke, 200m breaststroke, 400m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, 200m back and 400m IM).
She also set a new meet record in the 200m back event.
Michael MacDonald also had an outstanding weekend, capturing six gold (50m free, 100m fly, 100m back, 400m free, 200m free and 200m back) while setting records in the 200m backstroke and the 400m freestyle.
Morgan Mark (50m free, 200m free and 100m free) and Kate Thomson (200m IM, 200m fly and 400m IM) each won three gold and Andreas Mock won two races (100m breast, 100 free).
Winning a gold apiece were Kyle Polednik (50m free), Justin Schramm (200 IM), Daniella Szalkai (100m fly), Nathan Jongenburger (200m breast), Hillary Metcalfe (100m breast) and Rachelle Kichton (200m fly).
Kichton, Kiss and Metcalfe also set club records.
Other Langley swimmers who made finals and finished in the top eight of events were Trista Tetreault, Romina Worthington, Brennan Taylor, Siobhan Board, Jessie Gibson, Martha Metcalfe, Shauna Jense, William Karpan, Chelsea Borrowdale, Renae Ledoux, Gabriella Szalkai, Devon Mark, Illian Urquidi, Trevor Voisey, Ryan Moloney, Kennedy Douglas, Kyla Barton, Kelley MacDonald, Meredith Clark, Jimmy Stewart, Paige Dong and Amelia Blair.
