Three fencing events at Sunrise Waldorf School Sunday kept competitors sharp.

Host Salle La Fleche Fencing Club members were joined by Victoria’s Capital City Fencing Club and the Kyle Centre Fencing Club of Port Moody.

Events included: Y14 (Under 14) Sabre, Under 16 Cadet Sabre and Under 9 Junior Epee.

Cadet and junior events were both sanctioned by the Canadian Fencing Federation. That gave fencers a chance to earn points toward national rankings with their placing.

Nick Dennison of Salle La Fleche entered both the sabre and epee events. Otherwise, the epee event would not have met minimum participant numbers.

“He showed exceptional stamina and athleticism in his fencing, achieving second place in both events,’’ noted club spokesman and tournament organizer Georgia Newsome.

Category results were as follows:

Y14 Sabre — 1. Christian Hatton (SLF), 2. Gabriel Green (SLF), 3. Devin Cvitanovich (SLF), 4. Christopher Lampson (SLF).

Cadet Sabre — 1. Robyn Cando (KC), 2. Nicholas Dennison (SLF), 3. Oliver Jourmel (SLF), 4. Gabriel Green (SLF).

Junior Epee — 1. Omry Gribov (KC), 2. Nicholas Dennison (SLF), 3. Ben Dennison (SLF), 4. Iavor Ivanov (KC).
