The Mission Hotspurs under 18 boys soccer squad is still undefeated after last Sunday’s 4-0 win over the Poco Arsenal.
The Arsenal visited the Hotspurs, and were an unexpected challenge. Chances went both ways in the early minutes of the game, until Branden Edmondson started the scoring for the Hotspurs when he shot the ball over several Poco players into a vacant net.
Shortly after, Edmondson scored on a distant shot to extend the lead. Despite many attempts on goal by both teams, they closed the first half at a 2-0 lead for Mission.
The second half had Mission a bit worried when Poco had a penalty kick, but luckily for Mission, went over the net.
Mission continued their scoring when Blake Roberts kicked a corner, Dan Crich got a head on it, keeping it away from the opposing netminder. Edmondson played it towards the net, where it was tapped in by Landon Robitaille.
Poco was called for a foul shortly after, and Shelvin Krishna was chosen to take the kick just outside the 18 yard box. Poco made a wall, but Krishna’s powerful shot went right through it and into the net.
The Mission Hotspurs play again this Saturday in Surrey.
