Hockey Outlaws suffer through tough weekend
It’s not yet Halloween, but it was a scary three days for the North Kamloops Elks pee wee tier 4 Outlaws last weekend.
The tough times began on Friday, when the Outlaws lost 6-3 at home to Chase — coming up short despite goals from Jayden Phillips, Tyston Harrison and Taylor DeGroot.
On Saturday, the Outlaws traveled to Kelowna — where they got blown out 10-1.
Bailey Henry scored the lone Kamloops goal.
The next day in Lumby, the Outlaws didn’t fare much better.
Ryan Ignace, Liam Befurt and Blaise Brewer scored in a 7-3 loss.
The Outlaws play Chase twice next weekend.
Midget Blazers doused by Okanagan Blazers
The bye week couldn’t come at a better time for the Thompson Blazers.
The Kamloops-based Hockey BC Major Midget League squad was blown out twice last weekend in Kelowna by a 17-3 total.
In the first game, on Saturday, the Blazers fell behind to the Okanagan Rockets early in the first but were able to tie the score at 1-1 on a goal by Daniel Buchanan.
Then it was all Okanagan, scoring two more goals in the first period before piling on eight more in the final 40 minutes for a lopsided 11-1 victory.
On Sunday, the Rockets jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and eventually held on for a 6-2 win.
The Blazers are off this weekend. They’ll be back in action on Nov. 7, when they host the Cariboo Cougars.
