The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s volleyball team evened up its record on the weekend with a pair of sweeps over the University of Regina Cougars.

The Pack beat the Cougars 25-17, 25-17 and 25-22 on Friday — earning free Big Macs for the more than 1,000 people in attendance at the Tournament Capital Centre — and 28-26, 25-19 and 25-17 on Saturday.

After dropping a pair of matches with the University of Alberta last weekend to start the season, the Pack now has a 2-2 record in Canada West play.

Freshman left-side Kevin Tillie — who was named Canada West athlete of the week for his performance — led TRU offensively both nights, collecting 28 kills between the two matches.

He also recorded three service aces and seven digs on the weekend.

While the men managed wins, the TRU women weren’t as lucky, as they dropped both of their matches to the lady Cougars — who came into the weekend ranked sixth in Canadian Interuniversity Sport.

The scores on Friday were 19-25, 25-16, 25-20, 23-25 and 19-17.

On Saturday, the Pack was swept 25-20, 25-14, 25-22.

Next up for TRU is the University of Calgary Dinos, who visit the TCC on Friday and Saturday.

The Dino men are currently in a tie for second place in Canada West with a 3-1 record, while the women are 2-4.
