A week off didn't do the Oceanside Generals much good Saturday night, as they hosted the Victoria Cougars in VIJHL action in Parksville.
After posting four straight wins and getting their record to .500 the week before, the Save-On-Foods Generals hosted the league-leading Cougars, who at that point had won 15 games and lost only two. For much of the game, the visitors controlled the tempo - and the puck. While the shots on goal were fairly even, it was Victoria who got the better of the bounces.
Victoria's Samuel Rice opened the scoring in the first period. Oceanside's Conner Morgan tied the game moments later with an unassisted effort.
That would be it for the Gens, as Victoria's Karl Hagg and Mark Meyer put goals past Braedan Johnson to seal the win.
Now 8-9-1 on the season, the Gens play again at home Tues., Nov. 10 against the Kerry Park Islanders. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
