Kerry Park blanks Oceanside

Unbeaten Kerry Park shut out the Oceanside Generals in Parksville Saturday night — but its wasn't due to a lack of effort on the part of the Gens.
After skating to a scoreless tie after one period of play, the Islanders - who are undefeated in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League so far this season - scored on the Gens' Braedan Johnson. The goal appeared to careen off of the crossbar, but the referee ruled it had entered the net before it popped out into the corner.
Tough forechecking by the Generals - notably by Myles and Leo Fitzgerald - kept the pressure on Kerry Park.
However, penalties in retaliation to hits on the Fitzgerald brothers kept Oceanside players in the penalty box. Mounting frustration led to a couple of fights and an Oceanside high stick, leading to game misconducts and the banning of coach Dave Johnston from the bench.
The Islanders added an empty net goal late in the third period, ending the game, 2-0.
